Autonomous multi-purpose VAX

Metalfor from Argentina developed a prototype of the VAX autonomous self-propelled, multi-purpose vehicle, according to news platform maquinac.com. The ag robot was presented during the recently held ExpoAgro trade-show in San Nicolás, Argentina. The VAX will be used in spraying, but also drilling, fertilization and even harvesting.

The VAX ag robot is under development in cooperation with Marinelli Technology from Argentina. It is built on the chassis of the Metalfor 3025 self-propelled sprayer.

During Expoagro the VAX was demonstrated with a 36-meter spraying boom. In addition to spraying, the VAX will be used for fertilization, both granular and liquid, and other tasks. Eventually the VAX will also be suitable for harvesting.

“There are multiple possibilities from the prototype and the idea is to test systems in the field to further improve and implement these,” says Nahuel Soria, member of the Metalfor team.

“We are proud to play a major role in the field of autonomous driving”, Daniel Brusa, director engineering of Metalfor, adds. “The goal is to use this technology to the most so that, at a given moment, it can be applied to our machines which are working on a large number of Argentine fields”, he concludes.
