Brazil’s first olive harvester

Olive grower Roger Scapini from Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil, has purchased the first New Holland Braud 11.90X Multi self-propelled harvester. It marks the beginning of mechanical harvesting of this type of crop in the country.

New Holland, in partnership with CPA Máquinas, delivered the first olive harvester in Brazil. The Braud harvester went to Vivenda Scapini, located in Viamão, Rio Grande do Sul.  With no less than 210,000 trees, currently this is the largest olive producer in Brazil.

The arrival of the machine marks the beginning of the mechanization of olive harvesting in the country, a process that has been done manually up till now.

“New Holland is proud to bring this technology and making it available to Brazilian olive producers, enabling them to expand their production and obtain more quality in the process,” says Eduardo Kerbauy, vice president of New Holland for Latin America.

According to Roger Scapini, owner of Vivenda Scapini, the arrival of the Braud will make it possible to close the intensive olive production cycle, something that was previously only seen in Europe and some other South American countries. “This machine provides advanced technology, essential for mechanical olive harvesting. We’re talking about development of a new process, with another production cycle,” he explains. “We expect to speed up the harvest, with quality and a reduction in losses and costs.”

The Braud 11.90X Multi is also the first unit of this model to be sold in Latin America for New Holland. It can harvest various sensitive crops such as olives, but also almonds, hazelnuts and pistachio nuts. The machine shows “respect” to the tree, maximizing the crop harvest and allowing for high-capacity without compromising the quality of the harvest.

“This machine provides harvesting performance under all conditions, with maximum fruit quality. The Braud 11.90X Multi is equipped with the renowned SDC shaking system with flexible rear rod fixation. This allows to harvest all the fruit, while preserving the trees for the following year’s next year’s production,” explains Kerbauy.

The machine is equipped with 3XL collection baskets, guaranteeing minimal losses. Equipped with a 5,000-liter tank, the Braud 11.90X Multi offers ample capacity. New Holland Braud’s design minimizes impact on trees and harvest fruit with high efficiency, thanks to the proven collection system with polyurethane buckets.

Operators can easily control equipment functions and precision applications, including automatic guidance, such as-applied mapping and implement control for ISOBUS. The harvester can be equipped with a GPS row tracking system to find the tracks of harvested rows. The full telematics option includes the IntelliField module, making it possible to share tracks when operating multiple combines in the same field. The Braud 11.90X Multi harvester operates at speeds of up to 4 km/h in olive orchards.
