Compact drill for small farms

Weaving Machinery has taken all of the proven features from the 2015-launched mounted GD disc drill and refined them to enhance operator experience in the latest models.Available in working widths of 3.0m and 4.0m, the company says that the new easier to use and maintain models will appeal to small farmers and those who prefer compact mounted machines.New features include a tubular coulter frame which helps to keep it clean, and a two-section folding mechanism for easy calibration and hopper emptying.Resulting in better weight distribution and through-flow of material, the 2,000l plastic tank comes from the Sabre drill. Heavy duty steel lids and a side door offer good access for maintenance and cleaning, and rear folding steps and two-stage platform provide plenty of space for filling the hopper.A gas spring in the upgraded GD coulter system is said to be more reliable than the previous hydraulic cylinders and results in easier set up. The new coulter system is said to be more responsive, resulting in a constant pressure on the coulters.Seed distribution is powered by RDS Artemis Lite controls with electric metering, while a 6” hydraulic fan delivers seed to the coulters. The controls can be upgraded to ISOcan GPS metering, which includes a larger user interface, allows multiple product application and is ISObus compatible. For eligible farmers and farm contractors in England, the new disc drill is eligible for the Farming Equipment and Technology Fund (application window open until April 4).For more up-to-date farming news click here and subscribe now to profi for just £3.99 an issue.
