Made in China – 90hp electric tractor

Chinese firm ZSHX Advanced Tractors showed the Xeevo E904i, the first of a new range of electric tractors at Agritechnica. The 4.0t tractor produces a rated output of 90hp (66.1kW). A 30-second power boost increases this to a maximum of 122hp (89.5kW). It depends on the job, but the 103kWh battery is said to last for 4-8 hours. Recharging with the fast 120kWh DC 120kw 120kWhDC charger takes an hour. “This can be done at lunchtime,” explains ZSHX founder and CEO Yongjun Chen of the Beijing-based company. The battery powers two electric motors; one for the driveline and a second for the PTO. “The beauty of this is that PTO rpm is unaffected by the speed of the engine,” says Mr Chen. There were two identical tractors on the stand, a green one for farms and this one for the municipal sector.Already on sale in China, ZSHX has partnered with the German Solis importer to demo the roughly €100,000-costing tractor and is now seeking similar contacts to represent it in the UK and Ireland.Mr Chen confirms that a smaller 50hp model is in development. A larger version of around 140hp is also planned. “Electric tractors are the future,” he adds. “They provide instant torque and can reduce total operating costs by over 80%.”
